Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) says he told the military and police to be ruthless against bandits in the north-west and north-central parts of the country.
In an interview with Arise TV on Thursday morning, the President made this comment
The President’s comment comes amid a rise in bandits’ activities in both zones.
There have been thousands of kidnappings for ransom in different states in the zones, including students.
Several farmers have deserted their farms because of these circumstances, while others have negotiated with the bandits to return to their farms.
According to the President, Nigerians will notice a difference in the activities of security agents.
The country cannot afford another famine if the bandits’ activities are not stopped.
I said before that we will speak in their language about people of the same culture killing each other and stealing each other’s cattle.
In a few weeks time, watch how the police and military will be different,” Buhari said.
