Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, says his principal prefers to be treated abroad because he can afford it.
In reaction to President Muhammadu Buhari’s trip abroad for a medical check-up, there have been reactions.
While many critics believe that Buhari ought to be treated at home, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) criticizes that the government is spending taxpayers’ money on his health.
Adesina said, however, that the president has been receiving medical care from the same team of doctors for about 40 years, and they have his medical profile.
“It is best for him to continue seeing that person who knows his medical history and that is why he comes to London to meet with them.
“He has been using the same medical team for over 40 years. Once you can afford it, then stay with the team that has your history.”
Adesina also mocked the PDP’s assertion that Buhari has turned the Presidential Villa into APC headquarters.
Governors elected under the opposition party have accused the president of holding too many meetings of his party at the villa.
But Adesina, who said that the PDP is losing ground and its ranks are dwindling, added that its members would say anything “illogical and inconsequential.”
Past PDP presidents held many party meetings at Aso Rock.
During the time of President Obasanjo’s rule, the PDP’s BOT meetings were held at the presidential villa.”
We were here when President Yar’Adua and President Jonathan met at the presidential villa. What exactly are they discussing?
“When APC dwindles from 24 governors to 19, do you hear a whimper from PDP one day rejoicing? It is all because they are losing ground that they are saying all these things. It is the way of politics.”
