President Muhammadu Buhari has responded to the findings of the panel set up by the Lagos State administration to investigate police brutality. The report was released on Tuesday.

Following the violence that erupted during the demonstration that had been taking place at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos for many weeks, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appointed a commission to investigate the events that took place.

In its report, which was handed to the governor on Monday, the panel raised several problems, which have been discussed extensively since then.

According to a leaked report from the panel, troops and police officers were indicted, and it was claimed that the tribunal had determined that some people had been murdered in the incident.

Human rights advocates, government opponents, and members of the international community are among those who have urged the Nigerian government to take action in response to the panel’s recommendations.

During a meeting with Antony Blinken, the United States Secretary of State, Buhari said that the federal government would take up the report when the state of Lagos has completed its work on the document.

“There are so many state governments engaged, and they have given varied terms of reference to the investigative committees,” Buhari was cited as saying by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson, as saying.

“On the federal level, we must wait for the actions made by the states, and we must allow the system to function properly.” We are unable to force our beliefs on others. “The federal government must wait for the reply of the states,” says the president.
