The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has begun disbursing N11.5 million in business loans to 238 selected Borno State petty traders, graduates, and retirees.

State Coordinator of NDE in Borno, Zakari Kashim, explained yesterday in Maiduguri that the loan is a revolving fund to support three categories of beneficiaries, including the Micro Enterprise Enhancement Scheme, Start Your Own Business, and Mature People Programme, who are expected to repay the loans so that other citizens can also benefit.

Malam Usman Maidugu, head of the NDE’s Small-Scale Enterprises Unit, said that the traders were selected from the Monday market, Gamboru market, Mairi market, Biu and Kwaya Kusar markets, and that each of the micro enterprise scheme’s recipients will receive N20,000.

He stated that graduates of the “Start your own business” curriculum will receive N500,000 while beneficiaries of the “mature” programme will receive N1.5 million.
