The Zamfara State House of Assembly has been restrained from impeaching the Deputy Governor, Mahdi Gusau, by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
The lawmakers are reportedly plotting to remove Gusau, who refused to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the “political tsunami” that hit the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Last month, Governor Bello Matawalle and lawmakers from Zamfara joined the ruling party.
Gusau held a rally with his party members a few days after they defected.
Legislators in the state took issue with the timing of the rally, which took place soon after a mass murder.
On Monday, Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the lawmakers not to remove Gusau.
