Abdulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), revealed today May 28, that Diezani Alison-Madueke forfeited jewelry worth N14.4 billion.
He made the disclosure when he appeared before a committee of the House of Representatives.
”The jewelry forfeited by the former minister has been valued by relevant government agencies, and its estimated value is 14.4 billion naira,” he said.
Bawa noted that the estimated value of the houses seized from Diezani is $80 million, and that all the assets are in the custody of the commission.
House of Representatives committee is assessing the status of all recovered loot moveable and immovable assets by government entities from 2002-2020.
Diezani was a minister during President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
