In two separate incidents, at least 11 people have been killed in Agatu Local Government  Area of Benue State.

It is barely one week since gunmen attacked the Odugbeho community in Agatu Local Government Area and killed 27 people.

A correspondent reports that a series of killings took place in Odugbeho as well as in two other rural areas – Aila and Adagbo.

On Sunday night, two people were killed in Odugbeho and nine other people were killed in Aila and Adagbo villages.

The leader of Agatu, Adoyi Sule, told our correspondent by telephone that the attack on the Odugbeho community, which resulted in the death of two people, was carried out by  suspected armed herders.

During the attack, 32 houses were burnt and two people were killed by armed herders, according to Sule.

According to him, the other nine deaths occurred as a result of a rift between the Aila and Adagbo communities, and eight people were wounded during the clash, and are now receiving treatment.

DSP Catherine Anene, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), told us that she hadn’t yet received any reports regarding the incident.
