The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, has reacted to the arrest of veteran Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu by the Nigerian Army on Thursday, October 7.
The Nigerian Army arrested Chiwetalu Agu at Upper Iweka, Onitsha, Anambra state for putting on Biafra regalia, even though the army claimed he was soliciting support for the proscribed IPOB.
According to reports, he was taken to 82 Division Enugu, where the Army said his regalia was an act of incitement towards a proscribed group.
The president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, reacted to the actor’s arrest, slamming him for wearing the Biafra insignia, especially given the security situation in the South East.
Chiwetalu Agu’s release is the Guild’s top priority.
“I don’t know why he wore Biafra regalia. Nigeria is really hot right now.” Rochas told Vanguard.
Currently, we are in talks with military officials to ensure his release. I heard they have taken him to 82 Division of the Nigerian Military base. We will do our best to release him.”
