According to Sentinel Forensic Limited, bullets discharged from firearms during the #EndSARS protest in Lagos on October 20, 2020, were from the Nigerian Army.
Joseph Kayode Funsho, the company’s representative, told the Judicial Panel of Inquiry and Restitution of this information on Friday.
The live ammunition (bullets) were discovered to have been registered to the Nigerian Army, according to Funsho.
The blanks, however, did not match the records from the Nigerian Army’s inventory.
Following this, the case was adjourned to Saturday, September 11, for further proceedings.
The findings of the company, however, seem to contradict those of the Nigerian Army.
The Commander of the 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Brigadier Ahmed Taiwo, who appeared before the Judicial Panel in November 2020 insisted that only blank bullets containing gunpowder were fired at the Lekki Tollgate on October 20.
According to him, the military only fired into the air, not directly at the #EndSARS protesters.
In addition to explaining that blank bullets cannot cause any damage to flesh, Brigadier Taiwo said if real bullets were fired, one bullet could kill three people at once.
