Leo Mezie, a well-known Nollywood actor, has died at age 46. Born Leonard Chimezie Onyemachi, he died on Saturday while recovering after a kidney transplant, according to reports.
Chioma Toplis, the actor’s colleague, revealed the actor’s passing on Instagram on Monday. Toplis disclosed that the actor passed away in an Abuja hospital.
Toplis shared photographs of Leo Mezie with the remark, “Actor Leo Mezie has passed away.” Saturday in Abuja, while recovering after a kidney transplant, he passed away. His body has been relocated to his hometown of Umuahia. RIP Leo.”
Leo Mezie began his career in the Nigerian film business in 1996, but he rose to recognition after starring in the 2003 film Labista.
The actor married his sweetheart, Maureen, in 2010. The actor revealed to his friends and fans in 2016 that he had a kidney condition, and they rallied around him; consequently, he underwent surgery in London.
The actor was hospitalised to a Lagos hospital in 2019 for treatment of the illness, which recurred in 2019.
