Moses Armstrong, a well-known actor in Nollywood, has been arrested on many counts including rape, intimidation, conspiracy, and the distribution of medications or devices for the purpose of procuring an abortion.
Former governor’s aide Armstrong was arrested last month on charges of rape against a child he had adopted.
On Wednesday, August 10, a State High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom reportedly read Armstrong four accusations.
He allegedly entered a not guilty plea and was released on bond.
On behalf of his client, Emmanuel Pantaleon filed a bail application with the court on July 25 and asked for the court’s permission to move on with the case.
Assistant state counsel for the prosecution I.U. Robert argued against bail, citing case law and asking the court to reject the motion as a “abuse of court process.”
After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Ntong Ntong agreed with the defence and released Mr. Armstrong on bail in the amount of N5 million.
