Hartland Construction Company’s driver and a police officer were killed on Tuesday, after which an expat was abducted in Benin, the capital of Edo state.

The accident took place on Benin-Auchi expressway, witnesses said.

The gunmen opened fire on the vehicle as the driver and police officer were returning from the Benin airport where they picked up the expat.

According to reports, the driver and the police officer died on the spot, while the expatriate was whisked  away.

The expatriate, who has been on leave, came back to Nigeria to resume work.

It was reported that the driver, who hails from Jattu, Etsako west local government, was buried  according to Islamic rites.

According to Kontongs Bello, police public relations officer for Edo state command, he is unaware of the incident.
