The home of a farmer named Dele in Ajowa Akoko, Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State was attacked by suspected bandits, who killed two of his children and kidnapped two others.
In the early morning hours, the bandits stormed the town and headed for the home of a cattle herder in the community, Yinka Oludotun, but could not gain entry.
The Nigerian Army’s timely intervention foiled the attack as the soldiers chased away the hoodlums from the area.
“After failing in their attempt to kidnap Yinka, the bandits fled to the house of Dele to kill his two sons and kidnap his other two children,” the source said.
Soldiers, policemen, and members of the state Amotekun Corps were already combing the forest to apprehend the criminals.
Tee-Leo Ikoro, spokesman of the state police command, has confirmed the incident.
Security agents were already on the trail of the bandits, he said.
According to Ikoro, the children will be rescued uninjured.
“Yes, there was a kidnapping in Ajowa, and we are looking for the criminals. The investigation is ongoing,” he said.
