Abubakar Sani Bello, governor of Niger State, met with the parents of the 136 students abducted from Salihu Tanko Islamiya School, Tegina, last month.
His deputy coordinated the rescue operation while the governor traveled abroad hours after their abduction.
Upon his return to the country, Bello created a special vigilante group to deal with the gangs causing unrest in the state capital and went to Tegina to see the parents of the abducted children.
At the palace of the Emir of Kagara, Alh. Ahmed Garba Gunna, Bello met with the parents of the victims and other stakeholders.
The president commiserated with them and assured them that the government would rescue the children.
