Ben Ayade, governor of Cross River state, has accused foreign countries of funding and supporting separatists in Nigeria.
Ayade made the allegation after visiting President Buhari at the presidential villa on Thursday, June 3. Some foreign countries support secessionist agitations in order to boost their gun trade, according to him. Secessionists are being funded by the international community – Governor Ayade
“The country is descending into civil war. In order to defeat the insurgency characterized by external militias who have been paid for the purpose, we must unite and support the President.
Clearly, they have a basic interest in our natural resources including tantalite, cobalt derivatives, diamonds, and gold. As you know, when the international community sees large deposits of natural resources in Africa, they are glad to see such countries go to war.
He stated, “On the one hand, they fund enemies of the state, while on the other hand, they fund secessionists in order to continue selling arms.”. Therefore, they are funding both sides.” he added.
