Gun attack kills two in Rivers community

The two people killed and one injured included children in Khana Local Government Area, Rivers State, in the early hours of Sunday.

The victims were a woman and a man, according to a community source.

A third person, a woman, was shot and is in the hospital.

According to the source, people of Kono in the Boue community were responsible for the attack.

According to him, the police and other security agencies have moved into the community to restore normalcy, and no arrests have been made.

Residents of Ka-Bori communities close to Bori town, who requested anonymity due to the tense security situation in the area, told our reporter that they heard gunshots around 6 am, saying that the shooting lasted 35 minutes.

Golden Nwibakpo, the public relations officer for Kono/Boue Community Development Committee, has denied that his community was behind the attack.

Nwibakpo said his people have been deserted because they roam around Bori and do not have time for such an attack.

Three people were killed in Kono/Boue on August 23.

Our reporter was promised a response from SP Nnamdi Omoni, Public Relation Officer of the Rivers State Police Command, after contacting him about this incident.
