Aliyu Idris, a 26-year-old man who advertised himself for sale, was apprehended by Kano State Hisbah Board operatives in Kano state.
Idris, who is from Kaduna State’s Soba local government, had said that he could be purchased for N20 million.
However, after being apprehended by Hisbah, he changed his mind.
Idris was seen strolling the streets of Kano last week with a poster that stated, “This guy is for sale for N20m.”
The Hisbah Commander General, Dr. Harun Sani Ibn Sina, confirmed the situation on Wednesday, saying that the young guy was detained since it is illegal in Islam to sell oneself.
“Of course, we detained him and questioned him about why he made that choice.” We then conveyed to him that it is banned in Islam to sell oneself.
“And we informed him that he does not own himself as a human being, and that he does not have the right to sell himself.” “He embraced our message and changed his mind,” the Hisbah Commander stated.
Ibn Sina urged the entire population, particularly parents, to take excellent care of their children as Allah has entrusted to them and to work for the betterment of society.
In response, Aliyu said that he had no idea what he was doing was forbidden in Islam.
“I had no idea what I intended to do was a sin.” But, now that I’ve realised my error, I’ve decided not to sell myself. “I beseech Allah, the Almighty, for pardon.”
Aliyu also apologised and promised not to repeat the mistake in the future.
