A truck carrying food items was set ablaze in Enugu State on Monday by suspected hoodlums.
During the sit-at-home declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), the suspects set fire to the vehicle.
At Edem junction, Ibeagwa in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state, a vehicle carrying tomatoes, vegetables, and other foods was burned.
It was reported that the vehicle was returning from the Ugwogo end of the Opi-Enugu by-pass when it was attacked
Sympathizers called the State Fire Service, who eventually contained the fire.
However, no contact had yet been established with either the driver of the burnt vehicle or the owner of the goods to determine the extent of the loss when this report was filed.
The sympathiser said, “It’s a pretty huge loss that ought not to have happened had our people thought things through well before taking retrogressive actions like this.”
According to the Enugu Police Command, no one has been arrested so far in connection with the incident, adding that an investigation had begun.
