On Thursday, the House of Representatives ceased its consideration of the Report of the Conference Committee on Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
The PIB Conference Report, which was earlier scheduled for presentation and consideration, was stepped down after the House resumed plenary at the conclusion of an executive session.
Members of the House protested earlier over an alleged reduction in the percentage accruing to host communities.
Earlier, the House approved 5% of the PIB for host communities while the Senate approved 3%.
PDP lawmaker Chinyere Igwe created a scene when he allegedly reduced the percentage of host communities from 5% to 3% after the conference committee of both the Senate and the House of Representatives harmonised the document.
The rowdy session began before the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila, arrived.
Even after the Speaker arrived in the chamber and took his seat, the rowdy session continued, forcing the Speaker to ask the House to go into an executive session.
