Kwara State has rescued a 12-year-old kidnapped victim. During a routine security patrol in North Central State, the victim was rescued.

His abductors reportedly smuggled him into a coffin and covered him with a white cloth.

However, officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service had stopped the vehicle which was carrying a coffin.

Apparently, the persons inside the vehicle escaped into the bush, but an opening on the coffin allowed them to escape.

As a result of the opening, the eagle-eyed agents probed further until they found the unconscious victim.

Babawale Zaid Afolabi, spokesman for the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), confirmed the incident. He said immigration officials spotted the unmarked vehicle and flagged it down.

“When immigration officers searched the vehicle, they found a coffin, and when they opened the coffin, a minor about 12 years old was inside, covered with white cloth,” Babawale said.

Furthermore, he reported that the Immigration officials notified other law enforcement agencies and border patrol agencies, saying they were actively working on arresting the vehicle’s two occupants.

Upon medical examination, the boy was found to be in good health. Further investigation revealed the boy is from a village in the Benin Republic.”

“The minor has been handed over to the police in Benin Republic for further investigation and a reunion with his family,” he said.
