The Department of State Services, DSS, is accused of blocking Nnamdi Kanu’s access to his lawyers.
On Thursday, September 2, Kanu’s lead lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, claimed that the DSS constrained his access to the detained IPOB leader as well as IPOB’s attorney in the USA, Bruce Fein.
In a statement issued on Friday, September 3, Ejiofor described the alleged action of the DSS as a violation of an order of the Abuja Federal High Court, which allows Kanu access to his lawyers twice a week.
State Security Services officials aborted yesterday’s court-ordered visit to Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for reasons we find absurd.
The game took on an interesting twist upon the arrival of Mr. Bruce Fein, a leading American trained Constitutional Law Lawyer and IPOB’s Attorney in the United States.
According to the State Security officials, despite our formal notification to the Service, per protocol, and in compliance with our court-ordered guidelines, they gave us the excuse that the person assigned to receive us during yesterday’s visit was on a special assignment, and we cannot go.
This is not only absurd, but it violates the Court Order about visiting Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
