Dr. Halilu Shaba, Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), announced that Nigeria’s satellite had expired three years ago.
Shaba, who made the disclosure in an interview on Channels Television, said the satellite expired in 2018 and is only transmitting necessary data based on Grace.
The satellite that is used for security purposes and is a source of revenue for the country has a 7-year lifespan, and a new one should have been built.
The NASRDA DG said;
“Grace, the satellite we are using, expired in 2018 and still provides us with the necessary data. One cannot tell the story because there are so many things competing for the same resources in the country.”
