President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived in Owerri, the state capital, despite threats by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to disrupt the visit.
At about 9.30 am, the presidential jet landed at Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport.
Governor Hope Uzodimma and members of his executive council welcomed the president in traditional Igbo attire.
After inspecting a guard of honour mounted by the Nigerian Army, the president was driven to Owerri City Centre where he is expected to commission some projects.
It is expected that his first stop would be the Naze – Nekede – Ihiagwa road where he is expected to commission the first phase of the road.
