Doctor Adegbola Dominic, the chairman of the Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), died of COVID-19 complications.

It comes barely a month after the party lost its Secretary, Prince Muiz Shodipe-Dosunmu.

In July 2021, Shodipe-Dosunmu also died as a result of COVID-19 complications.

In Lagos, a Federal High Court sacked the party’s chairman, Mr. Deji Doherty, and declared the deceased Mr. Doherty the authentic Chairman of the party.

Prior to the July 24 local government election in the State, Dominic was said to be interfacing with the late Secretary to shuttle the state Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).

Dominic went into isolation after the death of the party’s secretary.

“As a doctor, he has been managing the infection at home,” a source said.

According to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Barr, he succumbed to the virus on Wednesday. Taofik Gani.

He described the late senior medical practitioner as an exceptional politician who devoted much of his hard-earned money to philanthropy.

Santa Maria Hospital was under his direction.

From the days of the Action Group, Dr Dominic was a grassroots politician.

Among the positions he held were that of the State Chief Executive Officer of the SDP; State Chairman of the PAC; National Chairman of the APN (founded by the late Lateef Jakande); State Chairman of the Lagos PDP.

On the platform of APGA, he also ran for governor of Lagos state.

As the candidate of the Jakande group in the Lagos West senatorial primary of the SDP, he competed against Bola Tinubu.

“He stood for Lagos’ development and feels disappointed this is not the Lagos he wished for,” the Lagos PDP publicity secretary said. In Lagos politics, he will always be remembered. Condolences to his family.”

All PDP flags in the state will be flown at half mast, added the PDP Secretary.
