Simon Bako Lalong, Plateau State Governor, has directed the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in Jos North Municipal Council. Jos North is one of three local governments that were announced to operate dusk-to-dawn curfews.
As a result of the action, the governor claimed future security threats would be mitigated.
The curfew was deemed necessary by the governor due to rising threats to the safety of lives and property within the local government.
As of 2pm today, Sunday 15th August 2021, a 24-hour curfew will be in effect in Jos North Local Government Area.
The governor urged residents to follow the curfew and remain indoors to allow security agencies to maintain law and order.
As of now, the 24-hour curfew in the Jos North Local Government will remain in place.
Several Fulani travellers were macheted to death by suspected Irigwe youths near Gada-biyu – Rukuba road area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday.
After attending a Zikir (prayer) and celebration of the New Year Islamic Calendar at the Dahiru Usman Bauchi Mosque, Bauchi State, the travellers were on their way back to Ondo and Ekiti states.
