A total of three members of the Living Faith Church Worldwide have been kidnapped in Kogi state along the Lokoja-Okene road in Osara community.
During the weekend, some members of the church were rehearsing when the kidnappers intrusion took place.
In the process of taking the victims into the forest, the kidnappers were said to have fired sporadically into the air in order to scare away residents and security personnel.
Habeeb Jamiu, a special adviser on media and publicity in the Adavi Local Government Council, confirmed the abduction of three church members.
He said the council chairman visited the scene with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Osara Division, adding that the council was working with security agents to find a way to rescue the victims.
“We had previously met with the people from Osara Community as well as the entire farm center. The chairman told them to restrict every night activity for now, and anyone who wants to hold an event in the night should inform appropriate quarters and also get their approval so that adequate security can be provided. But due to their disobedience, they chose otherwise,” he said.
Therefore, the chairman advised residents of Osara to be security conscious and to think about their own safety at all times.
We are all aware of the security challenges facing this country, and Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello is doing everything in his power to ensure the safety of Kogi State and protect lives and property. All hands must be on deck to strengthen the peace in our communities,” he said.
CSP Williams Ovye Aya, spokesperson for the Kogi State Police Command, did not pick up calls nor reply to text messages about the incident.
