After Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s resignation, Manchester United are reportedly close to signing Ralf Rangnick as their temporary manager for a period of six months.
Manchester United are expected to hire the Lokomotiv Moscow head of sports and development for two years as a consultant, according to sources.
According to a source at United, negotiations are ongoing and nothing has been agreed upon, but both United and Rangnick are respectful of Lokomotiv.
But Michael Carrick will stay as caretaker manager for the Premier League match against Chelsea on Sunday, with Christoph Rangnick unable to take over owing to a work visa issue.
Rangnick has managed Hannover, Schalke, Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.
After United’s 4-1 loss to Watford last week, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was terminated, leaving the club in eighth place in the Premier League with 17 points from 12 games.
