An attack on a mosque in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, resulted in the death of one person and the injuries of others.
According to reports, a masquerade and his followers attacked worshippers within the mosque compound, killing Moshood Salawudeen.
On Sunday, worshippers were observing prayer under a canopy when they were attacked.
The attackers passed through Oluode Aranyin’s compound, where the mosque is located.
According to reports, the attack destroyed the mosque’s windows and doors.
Alhaji Quoseem Yunus, the Chief Imam of the mosque, said there was no previous dispute between the worshippers and masqueraders.
According to him, the masquerade and his followers initially passed through the worshippers’ area without any attacks
Yunus said they were outside the mosque, observing special prayers, when the masquerade and his men appeared.
State Hospital, Osogbo, is treating patients who sustained injuries, while the deceased has been taken to a morgue.
