The youth in the Middle Belt have supported the positions of the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) on the zoning of the 2023 Presidency and the issue of the Value Added Tax (VAT).
A Southern Governors Forum had called for the next president to come from the South as well as agitating for states to collect Value Added Tax (VAT).
At their meeting on Monday in Kaduna, their northern counterparts opposed their positions.
The youth under the Middle Belt Youth Forum on Unity and Democracy, however, supported the position of their governors that the North could not be threatened to relinquish the Presidency.
The group’s position is contained in a communiqué signed by its coordinator, Rev. Joshua Maiwa’azi, after a meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday.
Simon Lalong, Plateau State Governor and Chairman of Northern Governors Forum, was urged in a communiqué issued last night to remain steadfast in his efforts to promote and project the region as one indivisible, united, and formidable front.
