Kemosola Ogunniyi, the #EndSARS protester who gave birth to his baby while incarcerated, has been granted N10 million bail.

In the aftermath of the #EndSARS protests in October 2020, Ogunniyi was arrested by soldiers in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

On June 16, 2021, Ogunniyi, who was two months pregnant at the time of her arrest, gave birth to a baby boy.

An Ondo High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Ogunniyi, who had been detained at Surulere Prison in Ondo East Local Government Area of the state.

In his ruling, Justice Omolara Adejumo granted her bail in the amount of N10 million and a surety in the same amount.

However, she was allowed to go home for her child’s naming by the judge.

After Wednesday’s naming ceremony, she will be able to return to prison to fulfill her bail condition.

Ogunniyi and three others were accused of razing the All Progressive Congress (APC) state secretariat.

Along with other suspects, she was charged with arson, riotous assembly, stealing, and malicious damage.
