Nigeria’s Central Bank (CBN) has activated the e-Naira portal and will officially launch the document on October 1.
Although the platform has been activated, no transactions have yet been allowed.
CBN activated its digital currency website, www.e-naira.com, on Monday.
Mr Osita Nwanisobi, Director of Corporate Communications at the CBN, confirmed the developments to correspondents.
While the platform is live, no transactions will be permitted on it until the official launch on October 1, 2021.
The site has already received over one million hits.
Our correspondent notes that a cursory look at the website shows that it only provides information on the workability of the e-naira platform.
Visitors are however instructed to download the app from the app stores on Android and iOS.
