The Defense Headquarters reports that Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) troops had eliminated 42 Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeast over the previous two weeks.

According to the DHQ, 3,858 terrorists, including six top commanders and their families, have surrendered to soldiers in the theatre of operation.

Thursday in Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major-General Bernard Onyeuko, made this statement while reviewing the progress of the current military campaign against insurgency.

He stated that forces conducted more coordinated operations against Boko Haram/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) pockets.

He stated that on July 11, the air component of OPHK launched an air interdiction operation at Tumbum Jaki and Tumbum Murhu near Lake Chad in Borno State, resulting in the deaths of over twenty-one terrorists.

Onyeuko revealed that the six terrorist commanders had surrendered at Gwoza.

He named the surrendered commanders as Malam Mala Hassan (Wali), Ali Madagali (Munzur), Musa Bashir (Chief Anur), Buba Dahiru (Munzur), Jafar Hamma (Kaid) and Abbali Polisawa.

Between July 1 and July 14, about 3,858 Boko Haram militants and their families surrendered, including 505 men, 1,042 women, and 2,311 children, he added.

During the same time period, according to the spokesman, troops neutralised an undefined number of terrorists in separate encounters at Gamage village in Dikwa Local Government Area, Dikwa – Gamborou-Ngala route, and Pulka – Gwale road in Borno.

According to him, a number of terrorist logistics suppliers and collaborators have been apprehended with various materials in various theatre places.

“Among them were two women, specifically Hauwa Gambo and Khadija Dirsa.”

“As a result, troops neutralised 42 terrorists, arrested 10, and seized 17 AK47s, one QTC, one RPG bomb, one RPG tube, five hand grenades, 120 rounds of 5.5mm and 54 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition,” he said.

Onyeuko also identified 151 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 60 rounds of 12.7 108mm ammunition, two ammo links, five Dane guns, eight rounds of 7.62mm ammunition that was manufactured locally, one smoke grenade, two locally manufactured explosives, 23 empty AK47 magazines, and five FN magazines.

The surrendered terrorists and their families are undergoing profiling and documentation, while recovered items and suspected terrorists have been turned over to the competent authorities for future action.
