Abdul Adamu Kinkiba, Councilor of Soba Local Government Area of the state, was detained by security personnel stationed in the Galadimawa axis of Kaduna’s Giwa Local Government Area.
Kinkiba was apparently apprehended with an AK-47 close to a bandit stronghold terrorising locals.
According to sources, the councilman was detained while riding a motorcycle while carrying a firearm.
According to a vigilante source, Kinkiba stated that the gun was provided to him by a someone whose name he could not recall.
“He stated that he was told the pistol was intended for someone’s convoy. According to him, he was directed to park shortly after the bridge, close to the Galadimawa woodland (a well-known bandit stronghold), where the rifle would be retrieved.”
Engineer Suleiman Yahaya Richifa, head of the Soba local government area, acknowledged that the suspect is the councillor for the Kinkiba ward.
He declined to talk further, saying, “I’m in great distress about the news. Please permit me to recover from my shock.”
According to Daily Trust, the suspect has been transported to the Kaduna State Police Command headquarters for additional questioning.
