A similar occurrence has occurred in Kabba, the capital of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area in the Nigerian state of Kogi, less than a month after an explosion killed many people at a beer parlour there.
Sunday night, SHAUNTV learned that the Obafemi bar on the Oke padi axis in Kabba was attacked.
SP William Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Kogi state police command, acknowledged the occurrence and stated that no casualties were reported. The cause of the incident and the type of the explosion have yet to be fully ascertained.
Aya stated that the state’s police commissioner, CP Edward Egbuka, had dispatched the command’s anti-bomb squad to the location to ascertain the true cause of the event.
Two persons were killed on May 11 when an explosion shook a beer parlour at Lewu Junction in Kabba.
The police had attributed the incident to a ruptured gas cylinder, while family relatives of the victims said it was a bomb explosion.
Similar attacks were documented in the state of Taraba last month. Islamic State Province in West Africa (ISWAP) later claimed responsibility.
