The Anti-kidnapping Unit of the Bayelsa State Police Command apprehended two suspected members of a gun-running ring at a Yenagoa brothel.
SP Asinim Butswat, the command’s spokesman, stated in a statement released on Friday, May 13 that a Brownie Pistol loaded with eight.9mm rounds, three spent 12.7 mm rounds, two million naira in cash, and a Toyota Hilux 2021 model alleged to be stolen were recovered from the suspects.
“Operatives of the Anti-kidnapping unit, Bayelsa State Command, acting on a tip on May 12, 2022 at around 17:50 hours, busted a gun trafficking ring at a brothel in Ayama, Yenagoa Local Government Area,” the PPRO reported.
“Seibo Dokubo’m’, 32, a native of Degema, Rivers State, and Boma Daniel’m’, 45, a native of Patani, Delta State, wished to acquire AK-47 Riffles for kidnapping purposes.”
“The suspects are working with police in their investigation and will be charged in court at the completion of the probe,” he added.
