Ado Aleru, a notorious bandit commander from Zamfara, remains on the Katsina State Police Command’s most-wanted list, according to the Katsina State Police Command.
Aliyu Garba Marafa, the Emir of Sabon Birnin Yandoto in the Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, bestowed on Aleru the traditional title of Sarkin Fulani (Chief of Fulanis) in a ceremony conducted last Saturday.
SP Gambo Isah, a spokesperson for the police in Katsina, explained to Channels TV that the command had designated Aleru sought for offences including murder, terrorism, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
According to the PPRO, Aleru is also wanted for the murder of more than 100 villagers in the Faskari Local Government Area of the state.
In June, the Command issued an arrest warrant for Aleru, 47, and placed a reward of N5 million on his head, dead or alive.
The defendant is suspected of being a known bandit commander terrorising villages in the states of Katsina and Zamfara.
Aleru allegedly led a squad of bandits to attack Kadisau village on June 9, days before he was declared sought by the police.
The armed guys, numbering more than 200 and armed with modern weaponry, rode motorcycles into the village. During the raid, at least 20 villagers were killed and many more are injured.
