Bandits have murdered 23 persons and wounded many more in two communities in Kaduna State’s Giwa Local Government Area.
This is the fourth bandit raid in a week in communities within the local government region.
Anguwar Maiwa and Anguwar Kanwa were among the villages targeted by the attackers. The robbers assaulted the settlements at 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, according to an eyewitness.
“As early as 5 p.m. Monday evening, the criminals were observed regrouping on motorcycles, and security personnel were alerted.”
“However, the bandits continued to wreak havoc,” he explained.
Out of the 23 people reported to have been slain and buried, 22 remains were located with the help of security personnel, according to the eyewitness.
He said that security forces had also been able to neutralize some of the bandits and reclaim some of the abducted victims.
“I can’t tell how many were rescued,” he said, “but I know some were rescued and bandits neutralized.”
At the time of reporting this story, the Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalinge, could not been reached.
