Bandits raided Ganar-Kiyawa hamlet in Adabka District, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State, killing over 20 people.
The village chief is among those who have been slain. According to Channels Television, the attack happened at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 20. The robbers also assaulted several nearby villages, plundered businesses, and took some goods with them.
Communities in the Adabka ward have been subjected to a series of bandit raids and kidnappings, according to a source in the region who requested anonymity.
“Today’s (Sunday) attack was a major one; they have been coming almost on daily basis to abduct people, major women, and children”
Residents of Ganar Kiyawa have been sleeping in the forest for fear of being assaulted by bandits in their homes, according to the source, who also claimed that the military is only stationed in Adabka and Gwashi town, leaving other villages exposed to bandit attacks.
“The security agencies are not enough to mount all the villages around. We only have a military presence in two major places, Adabka town, and Gwashi. All other villages around are left uncovered by the security agencies so these people (bandits) can just go out anytime they wish to and attack people”
