Governor Dave Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, were fired by a Federal High Court in Abuja for defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a ruling issued on Tuesday, Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled that their defection was unlawful.
In 2020, the two-term governor, who was elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket, joined the APC.
