Bashir Ahmad, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Digital and New Media, has responded to the National Grid outage.
Ahmad argued that Buhari’s administration had improved power.
He claimed that the National Grid system failure was caused by a faulty transmission system left over from the previous government.
In a tweet, Ahmad compared the current national grid failure in Nigeria to what used to be the situation.
He said that Nigeria witnessed 42 grid breakdowns in 2010, but just four collapses in 2020.
“When we’re ready to have this conversation, we’ll know that the electricity industry has improved under this administration,” Ahmad wrote.
“A faulty transmission system is typically to blame for grid failure (inherited). There is obviously a lot of effort being done to solve it. We experienced four collapses in 2020, compared to 42 in 2010.”
