Alhaji Ahmed Sani Toro, the former secretary general of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), who was kidnapped on Saturday night, has regained his freedom.
One of his sons, Nasiru Toro, told Daily Trust that his father was rescued on Monday night after spending three days with the kidnappers.
Although he declined to disclose how his father regained his freedom, he reported that the former Bauchi State Commissioner of Sports was in good health.
“Yes, he has indeed returned home. Monday evening, his abductors released him. Obviously, he was traumatised by the terrifying incident, but he is now well. He is healthy, and we are grateful to Allah for preserving his life.
“The family is also grateful for the outpouring of support from Nigerians who called repeatedly to provide words of encouragement,” said Nasiru.
Toro, a member of the House of Representatives, was kidnapped together with former Golden Eaglets assistant coach Garba Iliya on the Abuja-Jos route on Saturday night.
After attending the wedding of the son of a former NFF president, Alhaji Aminu Maigari, in Abuja on Friday, both men were returning to Bauchi.
