One Obinna Dike, the groom, and five others, including his relatives and friends, were found dead at Akutara Village, Adani village, Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state.
On Sunday, August 28, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the State Police Command’s spokesman, announced in a statement that CP Ahmed Ammani, the Commissioner of Police in the state, has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the event.
The PPRO claims that on Friday, August 26, the victims celebrated the traditional wedding ceremony of Obinna in Obollor-Eke, Udenu Local Government Area, Enugu State.
They were discovered in a room Saturday morning, August 27, unconscious and with froth coming out of their mouths.
Six of the victims were pronounced dead at the hospital, while eight are showing signs of improvement from their injuries.

He extends his condolences to the victims’ loved ones and asks the community to help the police with their investigation by keeping the peace and providing any information they may need.
Meanwhile, preliminary research shows that on August 26, 2022, one of the confirmed deceased victims, Obinna Dike, age 31, was at his own traditional marriage ceremony at Obollor-Eke in Udenu LGA, together with his relatives and other victims. They then returned to their homes and continued the party there.
But the next morning, none of them emerged from the room where they slept, so the door was forced open. Inside, all of them were found to be comatose, with frothy discharge coming from their mouths.
Six (6) were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital and were placed in the morgue for preservation and autopsy; the others are now responding to treatment. Any new information will be shared.
