Two gunmen implementing the “stay at home” order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were killed in Anambra State.

Monday along Umunze road in the Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra, according to the police, they were slain.

DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the spokesman for the Anambra Police Command, stated that operatives on a crime prevention patrol engaged the gunmen in gunfire while implementing the stay-at-home order.

“Anambra State Command Operatives on crime prevention patrol in the early hours of today, 16/5/2022 along Umunze, road, Orumba South LGA, engage armed carrying gunmen suspected of imposing sit-at-home in Anambra State.”

“The agents neutralised two of the criminals and retrieved a white Toyota Hiace bus.” Further investigation revealed that these criminals were impeding the flow of law-abiding motorists going about their daily business. “The thugs take their motorcycles and tricycles by force, chase away the passengers, and then set fire to the motorcycle or trike,” he explained.

Nonetheless, he stated that the Command has increased patrols within the state and that the situation is being monitored.
