The South East chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) asserts that four of its members were murdered by gunmen in Anambra State on May 31 and sixty cows were stolen.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the group’s zonal chairman, Allahaji Gidado Sidikki, in Awka, the state capital of Anambra. According to MACBAN, the incident occurred at a Fulani camp in the hamlet of Ndukwenu, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
The assertion read in part:
“Our members are being innocently killed oftentimes; we don’t know our sins in Anambra State. As we appreciate the state government under Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo and security agencies, we also implore for their quick intervention to stop the killing our people. We can no longer move freely now in the state.”
Gidado Sidikki, the south east zonal head of MACBAN, identified the deceased as Mohammed Idris, Sale Idris, Abdulumkni Idris, and Musa Idris. He stated that Mohammed and Sale’s remains had been recovered, but the other two were remained missing.
The state police leadership has not yet responded to this event.
