On Saturday, some people with guns went on a shooting spree in Imo State and killed a father of four at a funeral in Atta, Ikeduru Local Government Area.
It was said that the victim was shot in front of his wife and kids.
Our reporter heard that the people who killed him shot him and then ran away, leaving the mourners shocked.
Witnesses say that police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer of Iho division got to the scene of the crime quickly after it happened.
Also, another group of criminals is said to have shot and killed a young man at Amaraku in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state. The victim’s name is not known.
Both things happened in less than 24 hours after a member of the Niger Delta Development Commission was taken by gunmen (NDDC).
Engr Kingsley Okorafor, the official, was said to have been taken from his home in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of the state, early on Friday morning.
Sources said that the people holding him had talked to his family and asked for N10 million as a ransom.
A man who just said his name was Collins told our reporter that the young man who was killed at Amaraku was his cousin.
He said, “I’m stunned. Yesterday evening at Amaraku axis, gunmen or kidnappers who haven’t been found yet killed my cousin. I’m still in shock.”
CSP Mike Abattam, who is in charge of public relations for the police in the state, could not be reached for comment.
