Tabitha Azahan, a pregnant lady, was shot by suspected herders on her way to Gbajimba, the headquarters of Benue State’s Guma local government area.
Nathabiel Ikyur, Governor Samuel Ortom’s Chief Press Secretary, stated this in a statement on Friday, April 29.
He claimed the woman was on a motorbike between Daudu and Gbajimba at 8 p.m. on Thursday when she was ambushed and shot between Kaseyo and Torkula.
“She was then sent to Gbajimba General Hospital at around 11 p.m. for medical assistance, where physicians are attempting to save her life,” the statement added.
“She was shot in the right hip, hurting the uterus. Doctors treating her at the hospital stated that the foetus is already dead due to gunshot wounds to the intestines.
“They said that they were forced to deliver the infant through caesarean section and repair and anastomose the intestines. They alluded to a possibility of a right hip fracture.”
