An estimated N30 million has been donated by the governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma, in order to help those who lost their possessions to hoodlums in the state last year.

Two trucks carrying onions and cattle on their route to Owerri were ambushed by thugs, who took everything from the trucks, including the onions and calves.

The National President of the Onion of Producers, Processors and Marketers Association, Aliyu Maitasamu Isa, presented the money to the beneficiaries at the weekend and stated the sum of N10 million and N20 million was released to their members and cattle merchants, respectively.

Isa said that the Governor apologised and promised to reimburse the traders following the incident.

Because some of the pledged companies have since gone out of business, his redemption came at a crucial moment. However, they are now able to inhale and exhale clean air. There were other protests going on at the time, so we wanted to express our gratitude to the Governor for bringing about peace in the country and delivering his pledge, he added.

According to beneficiaries who spoke with reporters, the governor is a one-of-a-kind figure in the nation.
