Senator Kashim Shettima, running mate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for president in the 2023 elections, boasts that he established some of the finest educational institutions in Nigeria during his tenure as governor of Borno State.

At the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos, Shettima made this proclamation during the 2022 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the ruling party’s presidential candidate, was likewise lauded for the progress he’d made in Lagos State.

When Tinubu was in charge of Lagos from 1999 to 2007, Shettima was in charge of Borno from 2011 till his term ended in 2019.

Shettima boasted during the conference that he and Tinubu had what it takes to change Nigeria for the better.

It’s not hard for Nigerians to see through the empty words and slick talk of fake politicians. The Nigerians should listen to the man who has been there before. From the very first moment, we shall make maximum effort. We’ll get right to work fixing the economy, the environment, and the security situation.

The prepositions are there, too. I’m responsible for constructing some of Nigeria’s finest educational institutions. You won’t think it’s a warzone until you see Borno, a state of wonders.

So, to make a better Nigeria, we plan to implement similar reforms in other key states such as Lagos and Borno. The core problem is one of leadership.

The conference, titled “Bold Transitions,” kicked off the previous Monday and would continue until the following Friday, August 3.
