Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Leader of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), has called to the party’s senators to back his presidential aspirations.
Tinubu made the request at a meeting with APC senators in the National Assembly in Abuja on Wednesday. The former Lagos State governor encouraged legislators to support his aspiration on the basis of his ability and experience.
“Why am I here?” he asked. I come to seek your advice, collaboration, and assistance. Nigeria has reached a tipping point that necessitates a handover of the baton. Mr. President is nearing the end of his second term. The election is almost approaching. Our party’s convention is almost approaching. I require our party’s presidential nomination. I won’t be able to do it if I stay at home. I believe we can accomplish it together. I am hopeful that you will be able to support me in achieving my lifelong goal.
“According to the good suggestion, ‘If you want to move swiftly, go alone.'” Move together if you want to go quicker.’ I’m asking for that team’s help in getting me nominated by the party and finally elected as Nigeria’s President. “I implore you to consider my qualifications and experience.”
Tinubu stated his decision to compete for the highest post in the country as a “lifetime aspiration” after alerting President Buhari of his plan in January.
