In the sake of equity, justice, and fairness, certain stakeholders from the country’s South East zone called to Nigerians, political parties, and other geopolitical zones on Friday to guarantee the area receives the number one seat in the 2023 general elections.

In a statement issued by their Media and Publicity Director, Collins Steve Ugwu, the stakeholders under the auspices of the Greater Nigeria Conference (GNC) said they would convene renowned sons and daughters of other zones, as well as political party chieftains, to discuss the concerns on April 25.

According to Ugwu, those invited include presidential aspirants from the Southeast, governors from the Southeast and Southern regions, a special delegation from Ohaneze Ndigbo, leaders from the South West Afenifere, the Middle Belt Forum, the Arewa Consultative Forum, and the Pan Niger Delta Forum, among others.

“The nonpartisan foundation’s goal for this momentous conference for a stronger Nigeria is to highlight the need for progressive good governance, equality in diversity, and justice via inclusion in the conscience of our national politics.”

“We are determined by the eminence of the conference’s leading lights, former governor of Enugu State, Dr Okwesilieze Nwodo, and Distinguished Senator Victor Umeh; both former chairmen of prominent national parties in Nigeria, as chairman and deputy chairman of the GNC organising committee, respectively, to ask Nigerians to give the Southeast region the opportunity to make history for one Nigeria,” the statement read in part.
